No more Secrets

My Name is Lee. I am a survivor of historic child sexual abuse, which happened throughout the 1970’s when I was in the independent, residential schooling system in the UK.  I now write and campaign to support openness and awareness of child sexual abuse and mental health stigma and discrimination.  I believe by writing openly and disclosing some details of my past, it will help those that thankfully didn’t suffer the same fate as a child, understand better what was happening in the this country only a few decades ago. As horrific as it was, I think the stories need to be told. We cannot truly ensure the safety of children, unless we all understand how paedophiles operate. Predatory paedophiles are intelligent, manipulative individuals who portray as seemingly respectable people.

The other purpose of the blogs will hopefully help other victims come forward and ask for help. Anyone triggered by my writing should initially speak with their GP and there is always the Police.

Talking openly about my mental health has helped me to deal with my issues.  Self stigmatizing has been very harmful to me and prolonged the damage that my attackers inflicted on me all those years ago. It is good to talk.
